LilGun isn’t the cleanest powder, but it’s definitely cleaner than 1680, and a heck of a lot quieter. I have used LilGun, CFE BLK and have a little experience with 1680 as well. I personally think N120 is the quietest - Small diameter stick powder - best results for Extreme spread also.I have literally never heard anyone say LilGun is loud. I personally think N120 is the quietest - Small diameter stick powder - best results for Extreme spread also. I heard Lil'Gun's kinda dirty and loud which would be similar to A1680 at sub speeds. Just for comparisons sake in a 16" barrel 9.3gn of H110 gives approx 1200 fps. I was using 9.6gn of H110 with the 190gn makers (1020) Depending on the book your looking at if max sub charge is listed at 10 - I might start at 11 (really depends on powder ETC) With a 10" barrel using 16" barrel load data - you might want to up your charge by about 5-10% also. You'll really need to get some Chrono data to get Extreme spread statistics - else shots at distance will be a pain to place.Īlso with subs I generally start at Max (fastest) charge weight and work down - to ensure no squibs. I personally use 190 grain Maker Rex Subs. I would open the gas port a bit but I don’t want to trash my Seekins barrel. I like the quietness but I still have reliability issues (not terrible.but not trust your life reliable) even with a lightweight spring and carbine buffer. I’ve considered going to VV N120 and giving up on LilGun for subs. My Gallant 217gr loads only need 7.4gr of LilGun to get to 1075, while the Berrys and Everglades 220s need right at 9gr. I wouldn’t be so concerned with “max” loads on subsonic rounds as they are max to stay subsonic, not max to stay at a safe pressure. You will likely need to get a lightweight spring and a carbine buffer. I’ve loaded about 8-12k rounds of 300BLK subs now, and have used a half dozen different projectiles and 3 types of powder, with LilGun being by far the quietest and the hardest to get it to cycle reliably. It is notorious for two things.quietness and little gas production. You want to get as close to 1075 or so as you can while keeping your ES in check, especially if you’re loading with LilGun. I see a lot of comments about AA1680 being a great reliable powder, but seems to be on the louder end of the spectrum. There is so much data out there, it's easy to get information overload. I'll look into losing supers or possibly cast bullets late. H110 is listed as 9.4 max charge weight and no min, so same questions there.ĭoes this sound reasonable? Or another powder to look into? My goal at this point is for a quiet plinking round to have fun with. Is this still good data for the 10.5"barrel? No min charge is listed, so I assume I drop down 10% for the starting charge, and go from there to ensure reliable cycling. Hodgdon data for the Lil' Gun lists 8.4 gr as the maximum charge, from a 16" barrel. The reading I've done seems to point to both these powders as being the quietest. My plan is to start loading with Lil' Gun and H110, using 220 SMKs or Nosler CCs. I've only had the suppressor for a few days, and only put subsonic Remington UMC 220 grain rounds through it, and it runs flawlessly with it on. The lower is built from a PSA kit, with I believe a standard buffer (2.875 oz). The host is a 10.5", 1/7 twist MAS Defense upper, pistol-length gas tube, with a non-adjustable gas block. I'm going to start reloading for 300 BO, mainly looking for a quiet suppressed round that will cycle the action.
